Iran is a national football team, called as Team Melli, it stands for Iran in the worldwide football events and is administered by the IFF (Iran Football Federation). Since 2014 December the Iran football team has been highest-ranked team in Asia. According to the FIFA World Rankings, it is ranked 32 in the globe.
Iran has won three Asian Cup titles in 1968, 1972 and 1976 and became a most successful national team in Asia. Five times Iran has qualified for the World Cup such as 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, and 2018, however, has never progressed past the group stage. In 1998 Iran's only win in the World Cup by a score 2–1 against the USA.
